Traditional Thai foot massage is practised everywhere in Thailand today and is a primary component of traditional Thai medicine.
Using thumbs, hands and a wooden acupressure tool, massage is applied to the lower legs and feet through rubbing kneading, stretching and vibration techniques. Pressure is applied with the wooden tool to specific points which are thought to be areas along energy lines, these in Thailand are called Sen lines. By focusing on the Sen lines we work on the reflex / pressure points on the feet which corresponds to various internal organs through which life energy flows. It is believed that blockages within the flow will result in pain, illness or disease. By working along these lines with pressure and by stretching the lines blocked energy can be released and functions balanced.
Traditional Thai massage is an ancient form of therapeutic healing. Its roots are in India from where it was brought to Thailand 2,000 years ago by Ayurvedic doctors and Buddhist monks. It combines acupressure energy, balancing, stretching and applied yoga exercises. It is a unique and powerful therapy. As Buddhism spread out from India this healing medicine spread with it. In its early development it found its way to South East Asia where for centuries it was performed by monks as one element of indigenes Thai medicine, whereas most traditional and eastern massage practises focus on tissue manipulation and the working of the muscles and joints Thai massage barely touches on either of these. It is rather a working of the pressure points energy lines and basic body forces which together produce a highly therapeutic effect.

During your first consultation I will document details covering your health history, lifestyle and hereditary background.
Whilst you are lying on a treatment couch I will carry out a combination of stretching exercises, massage the lower legs and feet stimulating reflex points that follow the energy (Sen) lines on all parts of the lower legs and feet. This will encourage the removal of toxins, good circulation, lymphatic drainage, help stiffness, flexibility, and encourages a state of complete relaxation and good health. Traditional Thai foot massage can be affective in the relief of various dysfunctions and disease but it is also a wonderful treatment and produces a deep and unique feeling of balance and relaxation. It promotes overall health and provides a general sense of well being, energy and revival.
